Blessed Sacrament Catholic School has been investing in the future of our children and our Catholic faith since 1922 through creating traditions of scholarship, service, and spirituality.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OUR TRADITION OF SCHOLARSHIP: Multi-sensory learning through a variety of teaching styles in the core subject areas of Religion, Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. Spanish, Art, Physical Education, and Music instruction in PreK-8th grade, with Computer instruction in K-8th grades. Speech and Drama in 6th-8th grades. Exposure to the latest in academic technology, beginning in Kindergarten, through various reading software programs, the use of electronic Smart Boards in multiple classrooms, and Middle School instruction in computer programming and website design. Administration of the Iowa Test of Basic Skills for all students 1st through 8th grades, with scores consistently averaging significantly above grade level. Optimal student teacher ratios in each classroom. Graduates accepted and well-prepared to attend Denver's most challenging secondary school programs. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------OUR TRADITION OF SERVICE: Buddy Program pairing students from older and younger grades on a regular basis, allowing older students to take on the role of teacher and role model. Thanksgiving canned food drive. Green Team school-wide recycling program. Contributions to the Heifer Project, Samaritan House Shelter, Father Woody's Haven of Hope, and Quarters for Kids. Weekly Middle School participation at local soup kitchens. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OUR TRADITION OF SPIRITUALITY: Spiritual development through classroom lessons and the example of faculty and staff. Continued deepening of students' understanding of a love for Jesus, fidelity to His Church, and a commitment to the dignity of the human person. Weekly mass in K-8th grade. Middle School retreats. Sacramental preparation: First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation.
