San Juan Diego Catholic High School says

San Juan Diego provides highly motivated students the opportunity to earn a Catholic, College preparatory education enriched by participation in a Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP). Students gain on-the-job experience with 55% of their tuition offset through our innovative CWSP, an internship program that allows students to work for some of Austin's leaders in technology, health, education, law, accounting and non-profits organizations. All students graduate with an advanced diploma of 30 credits, four years of work experience and 80 hours of community service. Rigorous academic offerings, including Advanced Placement and dual credit classes, an outstanding athletic program and many extracurricular opportunities, prepare the students of San Juan Diego for future college and career success. Shortly after arriving in Austin in June 2000, Bishop Gregory Aymond sought to advance the Church's prophetic mission by increasing the number of Catholic school opportunities in Central Texas. Citing the Church's "preferential option for the poor," he sought to make quality, Catholic, college-prepatory education available to young people who otherwise might not have access to it. In August 2002, only weeks after the canonization of St. Juan Diego, the indigenous man to whom Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared, Bishop Aymond opened San Juan Diego Catholic High School. San Juan Diego is modeled after Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Chicago. Because of its academic excellence and innovative Corporate Work Study Program, San Juan Diego Catholic High School is popularly known as "The School That Works!"
