At Sacred Heart Elementary we strive to develop a vibrant Christian community where the teachers, parents, clergy, and parish family work together to encourage and support our students to fully reach their potential in a Catholic Christian enviroment. Our mission is to provide a safe and challenging academic curriculum; where children are encouraged to reach their fullest potential spiritually, and socially, in a self-disciplined Catholic Christian environment. Curriculum for Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary curriculum incorporates the Mississippi State Standards in science and social studies, Career readiness in language arts and math, and Diocese of Biloxi Standards in religion. With theses standards, emphasis will be on differentiating the instruction and teaching across the curriculum. To meet the expectations of teaching across the curriculum, content passages from the science and social studies standards will be implemented into the language arts standards. Differentiating the instruction is monitored by the curriculum and student success through appropriate data. Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary has implemented the Renaissance Star testing for Reading and Math. The Renaissance testing begins with our kindergarten students by the use of the Early Literacy test. First through sixth grade students are monitored by the Star Reading and Math test and are tested four times each year (once each quarter). The Reading program begins in preschool where the children are introduced to letters, sounds, and word recognition and progress through the sixth grades to fluent reading and comprehension.
Language Arts consist of phonics, grammar, writing, speaking, and listening, from preschool through the sixth grades. Math is also implemented and begins in our preschool program and is monitored from first to sixth grades with the Star Math test, and supported with Math Facts in a flash and Accelerated Math. Science and Social Studies are taught from preschool through sixth grades by unite topics. Each child’s knowledge is monitored through comprehensive unit test.
Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary teaches the Catholic Faith to all students in Kindergarten through the sixth grades.

Mission Statement

Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School, a ministry of Sacred Heart Church and the Biloxi Diocese, provides an environment allowing each student the opportunity to reach his/her God-given potential with instruction, discipline and Catholic values which focus on the formation of a strong moral character, academic excellence, ability to serve others and the motivation to achieve.

In addition to the core subjects and religion, Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary offers classes once a week in Art, Music, Spanish, Library and Computer skills, to preschool through sixth grades and Physical Education daily to Kindergarten through sixth grades. The preschool children participate in outside play twice a day and Kindergarten through sixth grades go outside for recess once each day for fifteen minutes.
