Egremont Schools says

Egremont Schools, Inc. is a coeducational, independent Preschool -- Grade 5 day school serving approximately 150 students on one site in Chatsworth, California. Founded in 1936 in Costa Mesa, California, Egremont Schools, Inc. celebrated its 75th academic year in the fall of 2010. Since its inception, Egremont Schools, Inc. has always been guided by a mission to provide high-level academics, a commitment to character education, and a belief in a broad offering of programs. Egremont prides itself in its ability to provide its students with a strongly academic curriculum, interwoven with a wealth of additional opportunities for growth in the arts, technology, and physical education. Traditional disciplines begin at the early kindergarten level and continue through the fifth grade. The language arts component incorporates reading from a basal reader and literature selections, expository writing, grammar, vocabulary, and spelling. In our math program, children learn concepts, computational skills, and problem solving techniques through a variety of approaches including manipulatives, textbooks, computer programs, and daily exercises. Egremont assigns no more than 20 students per classroom. This commitment to small class/homeroom sizes reflects our commitment to individual student attention. We believe this consistency helps us in building confidence in our students.

Private schools, including parochial and boarding, are funded through tuition and fees. The cost varies from school to school, but most families pay tuition to attend them. Many private schools offer financial aid or discounts, so it's worthwhile to ask about these options.
