Army and Navy Academy's Full Profile

Army and Navy Academy says

Confident, independent, and resilient are just some of the words that describe the Army and Navy Academy Cadet.

Located on the coast in San Diego, California, Army and Navy Academy is truly unique. Our college preparatory curriculum is catered to the ways that boys learn best. Interactive lessons, small class sizes, personal attention, and formal leadership training motivate each Cadet to reach his full potential.

This combination - leadership education, a college-prep curriculum, and the commitment to teaching in the ways that boys learn best - all adds up to create The Warrior Experience.

As a private military school with a JROTC program, Cadets are educated to a set of core values that shape all aspects of life here. Honesty, integrity, respect, responsibility, and compassion are the cornerstones.

Excellence in academics stems from passionate teachers, a challenging curriculum, a structured learning environment, and positive role models. It is an essential piece of the Warrior Experience.

What sets our academic curriculum apart from other schools?

  • Small class sizes (10:1 student to teacher ratio)
  • Personal attention from teachers
  • After school tutorial and office hours
  • Emphasis on character development throughout all subject matter
  • Teaching techniques based on the ways boys learn best

Since 1910, we have worked to develop scholarship and character in young men. The academic curriculum is appropriately demanding and emphasizes good citizenship.

Our core curriculum is based on the University of California’s entrance requirements, and our college-preparatory curriculum includes Advanced Placement (AP) and honors courses. We also offer exciting electives, like astronomy and music technology.

Our dedicated Faculty and Staff make the difference. At our boarding school, academics extend beyond the classroom. Teachers are available for tutoring immediately after classes end and in the evenings during study hall. They also coach or supervise sports and clubs, so they get to know Cadets outside of the classroom.

Our Faculty members are all trained to teach to the ways that boys learn best, like interactive lessons, lots of movement, and team-building exercises in the classroom.

Our personalized teaching methods and commitment to educating and developing good character in young men give our graduates the foundation for success.
