I greatly enjoy helping my peers to better understand and appreciate the material they are learning, and I have had a diverse range of teaching/tutoring experience throughout high school and into college. In my AP Physics class, I helped tutor my classmates on their Free Response Questions in order to prepare for tests, and in AP Biology, I not only reviewed material with my classmates, but I even assisted my teacher by hosting review sessions and occasionally took over the lecture for the day to teach my peers, letting my teacher sit on the side. I have tutored many younger students in studying for their ACT and SAT, able to help them increase their scores in any of the sections. In a slightly different realm, I was a leader in my school orchestra, and I frequently held and ran sectional rehearsals for my classmates to improve their playing and their sound relative to the whole group. Even in extracurricular activities, I utilized my teaching abilities when I was captain of the Academic Decathlon team, lecturing and reviewing both the basic material and more abstruse facts in order to give my team the competitive edge in the competition. In college these days, I am always available to proofread other students' essays and give them advice for their writing seminars or reexplain concepts from science classes. All in all though, I highly value all opportunities to help others where they need academic help, and I find that I even benefit when I do so, as they only help me to exercise my mental muscles even further!
