Daniel M.'s Full Profile
I have a very unique musical background compared to other guitarists. My first instrument was alto saxophone in middle school. I played it through high school and a bit in college. After I graduated high school I taught myself guitar and drum set. I also spent 5 years in drum and bugle corps on trumpet and euphonium. As part of my studies I also learned keyboard. This means my perspective and experience in music is different than other guitar teachers. There are many concepts I have learned from other instruments that I can pass down to students.
From the start I will help you set goals you want to reach. Whether it's to learn a specific song or become familiar with a new genre, goals go a long way to keeping you focused and motivated. In each lesson I will make sure you have all the tools you need to stay on track. Music theory and skills(music reading, ear training, rhythm) will be core subjects taught in each lesson. My goal is to make you a musician who plays guitar.

Takelessons started as a platform to for music teachers, and is still strongest on that front. It provides tutors with organizational software designed to help track lessons, and so probably attracts more tech-friendly, highly organized tutors. No vetting or training is provided for tutors, so we highly recommend that you use their ratings and reviews when selecting a tutor.
Success in learning often depends on finding the right teacher; someone that not only has expertise in the subject, but also knows how to inspire. The teaching style that works for one student may not work for another. As a parent or student, how do you find the right match? As a teacher, how do you find new students that fit your style? TakeLessons bridges this gap.
