In my previous profession experience I have worked in non-formal, experiential education settings. In 2007-8 I taught outdoor education to sixth graders, and gained much valuable experience of engage students in the outdoor classroom, learning how to teach to the needs of students and to adapt material and curriculum accordingly. I have a passion for education and seeing students actively engaged in the learning process and developing connections as they learn to think, ask questions, and interact with the material on their own. I would now like to couple my passion for non-formal education with my love of the French language. I have a passion for the French language and culture; this passion coupled with my educational experience offers me excellent skills in teaching the French language. I have a very firm grasp of the French language, including four years of studying the language in high school, two years of undergraduate courses in college, and a year of classes in complete immersion at a highly reputed French language institution, the Alliance Francaise Marseille Provence, as well as a combined year-and-a-half of immersion in the language while living in France. I possess a very strong competence of all aspects of the language – oral and written comprehension, grammar, oral and written expression, and phonetics. My year long course at the Alliance Francaise also introduced me to very creative and innovative resources for studying the language. I believe this exposure as well as my creativity might allow me to incorporate diverse learning resources to enrich the learning process and classroom environment. Lastly, I am gifted in developing rapport with students, investing and drawing out students in the learning process.
