I have been teaching professionally since 1970. I am also a professional (full time) jazz and gospel pianist. I perform primarily in the Phoenix area..but have performances throughout the year..in all 50 states. I have written and produced a musical, "Kleo the Kat", which includes 10 original songs. I have recorded 6 albums..of piano and vocal music. My lessons are diligent, yet friendly. I combine fun and learning. ALL of my students, consistently comment on my patience..that is because teaching is my PASSION. I enjoy playing and performing, but there is NO fulfillment like coaching children and adults alike, as they learn to create the music within them. I teach all ages. Currently, my youngest is 3 and my oldest is 83!! I have taught over 600 people of all ages to play music. I began taking lessons when I was five years old, and continued private until I was 20. I attended Glendale Community College and Gateway College of Music. Students enjoy taking lessons from me because they learn and are allowed to explore their creative side of music. I customize lessons for my adult students...teaching them to improvise jazz, gospel, country, pop, and blues music. I also write some of the lessons for my students of all ages..if they have a favorite song, and an arrangement at their level cannot be found. I encourage creativity and originality, while emphasizing the importance of theory and structure. *** Lesson Details *** The lesson are information filled, with hands on guidance as the student understands and implements the lesson taught. The student, ( as well as ME) is usually surprised that the time has come for the lesson to end! I share my enthusiasm for music with my students. *** Studio Equipment *** I have a baby grand that I use for teaching in my studio. I also have a PORTABLE Hammond B3, with a leslie speaker. I have a 120 bass accordion. In addition I use a Yamaha 88 key digital, when necessary. *** Travel Equipment *** If necessary, I bring a 61 key Tecnics keyboard with me my travel lessons. I prefer the student have their own keyboard, but am willing to bring mine for the first 2 or 3 lessons..if they are unsure about their ability to learn piano. *** Specialties *** proficient at improvisational techniques in jazz, gospel, country, blues teach to write and read charts for musicians

Noodle says

Takelessons started as a platform to for music teachers, and is still strongest on that front. It provides tutors with organizational software designed to help track lessons, and so probably attracts more tech-friendly, highly organized tutors. No vetting or training is provided for tutors, so we highly recommend that you use their ratings and reviews when selecting a tutor.

TakeLessons says

Success in learning often depends on finding the right teacher; someone that not only has expertise in the subject, but also knows how to inspire. The teaching style that works for one student may not work for another. As a parent or student, how do you find the right match? As a teacher, how do you find new students that fit your style? TakeLessons bridges this gap.
