I have recently graduated from Grove City College in Pennsylvania with a degree in Music Education. During my time at Grove City College I was the principal clarinetist for the Wind Ensemble as well as the Concert Band. I served as the student leader for the college's woodwind quintet as well as conducted various college ensembles. I also served as the Teacher's Assistant for the beginning woodwinds class. I've played clarinet, saxophone, and flute in a variety of solo and group ensembles including pit orchestras, Pennsylvania All-State ensembles, jazz bands, community bands, etc. I majored in the clarinet in college, winning the Grove City College Orchestra Concerto Competition in the fall of 2012. I teach elementary band lessons in the public schools and have a lot of background knowledge on the woodwind instruments. I love teaching beginners and helping others figure out their new musical talent! *** Lesson Details *** I want my students to love music and be proud of their accomplishments on their instrument. My lessons are focused on creating a well-rounded and proficient musician. I spend a lot of time with my beginning instrumentalists on the basics and making sure that they have the necessary skills to become a quality musician so that they may be able to enjoy music as a lifelong hobby. My students with more experience will work on technical mastery, sight reading, and musicianship skills. I am very patient but expect students to practice in the days between lessons. Progress cannot be made on a musical instrument without hard work! *** Travel Equipment *** I bring along my own instruments to model and demonstrate skills on. Students will need their own instrument to use in lessons and practice on. *** Specialties *** I have quite a bit of background knowledge in teaching beginning woodwind instruments. I also have a lot of experience with the classical repertoire of the advanced clarinet- music used for college auditions, festival auditions, etc.
