I was born in California, USA and spent most of my life here. I graduated from a local community college with two AA degrees. However, after graduating my health declined and I became a hikikomori. Due to this I decided to get a TESOL certificate by taking an online class, and then plan to teach English online. There are other projects I'm working on at the moment though; such as: Translating documents, writing a book, publishing a book on amazon, getting strong at igo, music composition, opening up an organic restaurant, etc... Anyhow,I plan to teach English (up to advanced learners) and Japanese (up to intermediate level learners and maybe advanced too.) I have studied Japanese for more than 10 years and the language has become a part of my existence as a human being. I can't go a day without using Japanese in some form. Most days I don't even use English! (lol) I feel like I would be an excellent teacher for the Japanese language because I have studied it first hand (know the hardships) and have learned a bunch of fun ways to study it! I have a lot of insight I could offer Japanese learners as well as learners of the English language. I believe everyone has a different unique experience to offer on this site so it might be wise to experiment with a variety of teachers. When I took piano lessons growing up I only had the same teacher so I only knew how to play from what he taught me. However, when I started college I had a variety of piano teachers that taught me different things and I even impressed myself. I couldn't believe that I could compose music on the piano effortlessly. Learning a language is like composing a song-- it takes a lot of flexibility and knowledge to put the pieces together. Also, I realize that I am not a perfect human being and I think I will grow greatly from this experience, so let's grow together as teacher and student. \(^o^)/

Noodle says

italki specializes in online language tutoring. The site lists both professional language teachers and "community tutors," who are simply native speakers interested in helping people improve their language skills. Price points tend to be very low but tutor quality varies widely; make sure to use the ratings and reviews to help ensure a high quality tutor.

italki says

We believe that the key thing that is missing from language education is people. We built italki to make human connections between language learners and language teachers. On our platform, you can find a teacher from the US to tutor you in English, or a person in China to practice Chinese with you. We believe that everyone can become fluent in any foreign language with a teacher.
