I am originally from New Jersey and I am currently a student at New York University. I am pursuing a double major in Math and Economics with a minor in Computer Science and plan to continue my education with an MBA degree. I truly enjoy learning, and hope to inspire the same feelings in my tutees. I am currently taking Calculus 3, Linear Algebra, Microeconomics, and Computer Programming courses. From my sophomore through senior year in high school, I worked at Kumon Learning Center, a tutoring center that specializes in math and reading comprehension. I worked with students ages five through fourteen. I also have tutored as a volunteer through the National Honor Society at my high school. I believe that each student learns in a different way, and so first I try to best understand the student's style of learning. Often times, I have noticed that students have trouble with material because they have not learned the fundamentals or knowledge that it is imperative to understand before being able to grasping new concepts. Therefore, I will go over old material if it is apparent that a stronger understanding is needed. Also, practice is extremely necessary, especially for math, and learning new material with out doing any practice problems will easily lead to the student forgetting or not fully understanding. I try to make the lessons as interesting as possible, keeping the learner engaged. I have also found that it is important to inspire self-confidence in the student, as failure often results from a lack of confidence and will power. Goal-setting is also a great way to motivate and clearly mark progress. Fun Facts: Aside from my academics, I am very passionate about music and dance. I have been dancing and playing the piano for over ten years, and I have recently taken up the guitar as well. I also enjoy several sports such as golfing, snowboarding, and swimming.
