I have taught college-level Spanish since 1998. I am a native speaker of English, but because I've lived extensively abroad (as a teenager, in Spain--and as an adult, in Chile and Argentina), I "pass for" a native speaker of Spanish all the time. Most Spanish speakers I meet assume I'm Uruguayan. I love teaching online--it lets me work with students from all over, from all age ranges, and with all kinds of personal/professional backgrounds. My academic credentials: I received my BA in Spanish from UCLA (where I graduated summa cum laude), and my MA with Thesis in Spanish with a concentration in literature is from UF (where I was named the outstanding graduate student from my year). My teaching experience: Since 2006, I have been the Lead Online Instructor for Spanish for a community college in Florida. In this position, I have guided over 1500 students to mastery of first-year Spanish grammar, pronunciation and culture--all without ever meeting them in person! From 2001 to 2005, I taught on-campus upper-division Spanish courses (grammar and composition, syntax, literature, culture) for Spanish majors and minors at a large public university in Florida. From 1998 to 2000, I was a Teaching Assistant during my graduate studies. I taught lower-division Spanish grammar courses (Beginning and Intermediate Spanish) for the same Florida university. I have been tutoring private clients from my earliest days as a graduate student. I really enjoy working one-on-one with my tutoring students and helping them to achieve success in the Spanish language. I've tutored grade-school students, high school students, traditional-aged college students and older adult learners. Please note: all the courses listed in "Courses I Tutor" are actually courses I've *taught*. What can I help you with? Nearly anything related to Spanish! Really! From basic grammar concepts to vocabulary practice to pronunciation improvement to conversational fluency to more advanced topics in literature, composition and culture, I have the Spanish teaching background necessary to assist you. I tutor only in the online setting--over Skype with desktop sharing as needed. This way, tutoring can be scheduled for times at which face-to-face sessions would normally not be available (early in the morning, or later in the evening, or on weekends). Moreover, the expense and hassle of travel or coordinating meeting places/times are avoided. I look forward to working with you!

Noodle says

Tutor Matching Service works with universities to connect students with expertise with students who need help. There tutors are generally low cost (or sometimes even volunteer) tutors who work within their university community. Tutors don't receive vetting or training from Tutor Matching Service, but some individual schools may train or certify their tutors. We'd advise checking the profile of any tutor you're considering using for school certification, ratings, and reviews.

Tutor Matching Service says

Tutor Matching Service was created to increase access to one-on-one education and in doing so promote student success. Tutor Matching Service was originally piloted and financially sponsored by a handful of university tutoring centers (learning centers), career centers, and student governments including IUPUI, Caltech, Purdue, NYU Poly, and Kent State University. At most colleges and universities, there is no tutoring available for upper level chemistry, physics, math, languages, and other courses. College learning centers get frequent phone calls and emails from parents looking for college tutors.
