I, like you, am a native English speaker who learned Spanish in a classroom environment, and then further on my own. I found my own ways around the common language barriers Americans face when learning a foreign language and have discovered methods that make studying languages easy. Learn how to speak Spanish the way I did. It's natural and fun and you can continue to learn on your own without a tutor. I am a 30 year old returning student. I attended College of the Canyons in Valencia, California from 2000-2002 where I learned Spanish. I attended four full semesters of Spanish classes, receiving two A's and two B's, as well as an intensive advanced summer course where we spoke only Spanish for a month. My mother is a native Spanish speaker so I practiced with her much as well as with many co-workers. I never stopped learning Spanish though. I still study Spanish daily by practicing speaking, reading, and by listening to recorded lessons. I returned to college in 2010 and have nearly completed my Associates degree. I am transferring to Weber State University in the fall of 2011 to study Anthropology and Archaeology with a minor in Latin American Studies. I have made learning languages a part of my life and am currently learning Italian on my own and can tutor basic Italian as well. I plan to also learn to speak and write German and Mandarin Chinese fluently after Italian. As an Anthropology major, language studies are highly encouraged, as many in the profession are required to travel to foreign nations for work. I chose Latin American Studies as my minor because I plan to study Latin American cultures, and therefore I will be travelling to Spanish-speaking nations often in my future. Language tutoring could help me greatly on my resume, plus I just love to study Spanish. In my free time I rock climb constantly and hike often. I am an outdoor person at heart. I am open to meet in an outdoor setting or in an indoor library-type setting. I live close to Dixie State College and am currently available at almost anytime. Feel free to contact me if you have any specific questions about me, my tutoring methods, my availability, or regarding Italian tutoring. I look forward to helping you. Gracias.

Noodle says

Tutor Matching Service works with universities to connect students with expertise with students who need help. There tutors are generally low cost (or sometimes even volunteer) tutors who work within their university community. Tutors don't receive vetting or training from Tutor Matching Service, but some individual schools may train or certify their tutors. We'd advise checking the profile of any tutor you're considering using for school certification, ratings, and reviews.

Tutor Matching Service says

Tutor Matching Service was created to increase access to one-on-one education and in doing so promote student success. Tutor Matching Service was originally piloted and financially sponsored by a handful of university tutoring centers (learning centers), career centers, and student governments including IUPUI, Caltech, Purdue, NYU Poly, and Kent State University. At most colleges and universities, there is no tutoring available for upper level chemistry, physics, math, languages, and other courses. College learning centers get frequent phone calls and emails from parents looking for college tutors.
