I recently graduated from the University of WI-Stevens Point in May 2013 with a 3.61 GPA. During the years I attended, I have had two semesters of receiving high honors and four semesters of honors. I became a Biology major/Chemistry minor to complete my pre-med requirements. I went into the program in order to get into medical school and become a Pediatrician. In this period in between undergrad and grad school, it is important to me to keep my classes fresh in my mind by teaching them. Working with students has always been a passion for me. Last year I have had many experiences with working with children of all ages as a substitute teacher in WI. I spent a lot of time working in the high school restricted study hall where I helped students learn how to study for tests, organize their homework, and complete their assignments. I was also privileged with the chance to cover an early education special needs program while the teacher was on an eight week maternity leave. This provided me with a wide range of care with special needs children. For three years, I worked as a college level tutor in many science courses including: Chemistry, Biology, Anatomy, Physiology, Genetics, etc. I hope to continue to use my experience as a Frog Tutor. In the years that I tutored in college, I lead Biology study groups three times a week providing my students with quizzes, games, diagrams, pictures, and other study tools. These experiences gave me the ability to adapt teaching materials in order to allow students to really understand their subjects and be able to eventually organize their notes and come up with their own strategies for completing courses with a higher grade. Whether it's one student or many I value the importance of making sure that the student fully understands the material before moving on.Fun Facts: This is my first year living in Arizona! I moved from the frozen tundra of WI to help out my sister and also enjoy a winter that does not involve -40 degree weather. Even though I miss the vibrant colors of the changing leaves, I certainly do not feel bad for missing the cold rainy Autumn weather. I love taking care of my 4 year old niece and getting to know Arizona.
