With a Bachelor of Music from Yale University's School of Music, and a Master's Degree in Piano Performance from California State University Fullerton (CSUF), I have 40 years of experience taking absolute beginners from music fundamentals up through preparation for entrance to College & University music programs. I was formerly on the music faculties of CSUF, Hartnell College in Salinas and California State University Monterey Bay. My wife, Renee, also a highly trained pianist and formerly on the faculties of Monterey Peninsula College and Hartnell College, and I operate a studio with two Steinway concert grands in our living room and two additional Steinways in a second studio, also in our home. *** Lesson Details *** Our goal is to take an absolute beginner from the basic fundamentals of reading and counting music to preparation for entry to college at age 18, by which time they will be able to pick up any piece of music and teach it to themselves. *** Studio Equipment *** We have two studios in our home -- one with two late vintage Steinway 9' concert grands and the other with a Steinway L and a Steinway K. *** Specialties *** Classical piano with an emphasis on music theory, sight reading, ensemble and preparation for performances, master classes and competitions.
