I am currently a senior at Queens University of Charlotte. I am majoring in Biology with a minor in Spanish. I will graduate in December 2012. After graduation from Queens I plan to attend NC State University to obtain my Master's in teaching. My ultimate goal is to teach Biology in high school or possibly at a community college. My experience tutoring has been in an after-school care setting and one-on-one tutoring with a 4th grader for math. In the after-care program I help students from K-5th grade with subjects such as writing, reading comprehension, math, and science. I help these students about two or three times a week during the year. Although I have not had a lot of experience working with students in middle or high school, I am confident that I have abilities to adjust to each student so they can get the specialized attention they need to succeed. My tutoring approach is to adapt to the student in regards to the way they learn. I know how it feels to struggle with a subject and it seems like no one can explain the material so that it makes sense. If a student is a visual learner, (which is the kind of learner I am) I will be sure to provide a lot of visual aids to help them better understand the material. I am very motivated, determined, and organized I would like my students to be the same as well. Fun Facts: I enjoy having fun with family and friends when I'm not studying. I have a dog who is a Beagle mix and her name is Zoe and I love her so much. I have an older sister and older brother who are both half-siblings, so it's like I'm the youngest in my family. I used to play softball throughout middle and high school, and I also played on a traveling team. For about one year in middle school I took horseback riding lessons from my best friend's mother which was such an awesome experience. I also enjoy singing in my free time.
