James Director of Music at Akiba Academy graduated from Richardson HS in Richardson Texas. He holds a BM in Jazz Performance from the University of North Texas and is a certified k-12 music teacher in both Texas and Colorado. James started his professional performance career in 1990 with Dallas' own Blues great Al 'TNT' Braggs, and continues to perform in various local groups. As a professional player, he has experienced both national and international tours while playing with a multitude of outstanding performers. James has over ten years experience teaching in public schools, from elementary music to middle/high school band & choir; to adjunct saxophone at Mesa State College in Grand Junction Colorado. As a Band director, he inspires a strong foundation of musicianship ensuring meaningful musical experiences for his students both in rehearsal, and in performance. Additionally, he has been teaching private music lessons for over 20 years and has developed a very efficient and flexible teaching style, which ensures for his students, the maximum musical enjoyment that comes with an invaluable sense achievement. *** Lesson Details *** Lessons are planned and tailored to the specific needs and goals of each student. I am a strong theory teacher and stress proper technique throughout. I always tailor my methods and materials to the specific needs of each student.
