Diana L.

This is currently my third year at Fresno State. I am studying Nutritional Science with a minor in Communication and have maintained on the Dean's List thus far. I am actively involved with the community and have even received recognition for my extensive volunteer hours by the nutrition club on campus. When I graduate I anticipate to attend UC Davis' Nutritional Biology program for research purposes. My overall career goal is to become a clinical register dietitian. Ever since my sophomore year of high school five years ago, I have volunteered in many programs that involved teaching. Most recently however, I created a lesson plan for Spanish-speaking elementary school-aged students that focused on the basics of nutrition. At the end of the lesson, it felt great knowing these children had acquired a better understanding of the subject. Aside from that, a group of Fresno State students and I attend different elementary schools every week and teach a range of students from k-6. Frog Tutoring gives me an opportunity to share valuable knowledge with students in order to positively impact their lives. I have had a handful of teachers who have inspired me throughout the years and have kept me motivated to continue the cycle in return. An important aspect I have learned when teaching is having patience and staying positive. If one is not patient, it may become difficult to teach regardless of how well one knows the material. I am aware everyone has their own way of learning material and it would be in the best interest to adapt to a students' learning style. I would assure the student understands the concept rather than memorize it. I would have the student engage in the lesson and would ask questions to affirm he/she understands the content. Fun Facts: Something that I always enjoy is outdoor activities. This could be anything from taking my dog on a walk to snowboarding during the wintertime. I've always been one to try new and adventurous sports such as rock climbing and one day I'd like to skydive! I also enjoy listening to a variety of music such as country and 40's music.

Frog Tutoring says

In 2009, Roland Omene, a TCU bio-chemistry graduate, founded Frog Tutoring. The company originated in Fort Worth, TX, and is quickly expanding to cities all over the country. Frog Tutoring was founded under the belief that all students deserve tutoring regardless of age. We believe the first step in successful tutoring is finding the “right” tutor. That is why we only hire the top students and graduates from local colleges in the area. Each one of our well-trained tutors specializes in at least one area of expertise and is eager to aid in the academic success of the students they tutor. Frog Tutors are not just intelligent individuals, but role models who inspire their students to achieve success both academically and personally. - See more at: http://frogtutoring.com/about_us#sthash.ov47ISCO.dpuf
