Hey guys, my name is Ricky and I'm a three-finger five-string banjoist and bluegrass guitarist from the San Francisco Bay Area. I moved to Boston to study banjo at the Berklee College of music and what an experience it has been! I'd love to show you what I've learned under the teachers at the college. *** Lesson Details *** What I like to do in my lessons is make a division between the different styles of banjo playing. These styles can be divided into three fundamentals: Scruggs style, Melodic style, and single string style. We will learn songs that highlight each style individually. The goal of the first lesson is to get you playing bluegrass banjo! The goal of the first set of lessons is to equip you with a couple of bluegrass standards. We will then move onto more difficult fiddle tunes and could even delve into classical style playing and improvisation. For guitar we will discuss basic right hand technique, playing out of basic left hand positions, and rhythm playing.
