All students are wired differently and come with different strengths and weaknesses. Everyone can learn, but they may need help finding the best way for them to learn! I believe that teachers need to strive to help their students find the best way to learn. I also believe that teachers need to connect with the student (that is, get to know their likes and dislikes) as well so that the student feels comfortable with that teacher. I have worked for years with students of varying levels and backgrounds. I see them as individuals and it’s important they know that I am interested in their well-being if I am going to make a difference. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education as well as a Master’s Degree in Reading Education. I have raised a son who has ADHD and written for a magazine about ADHD. Although I have two teaching degrees, some of my best learning has come from the years I’ve spent teaching. I also read a great deal about learning differences, and those things have also made me a better teacher!
