Matthew S.

I graduated cum laude from Boston University with a Bachelor's of Science in Biomedical Engineering where I did most of my coursework junior and senior year in algorithm development and computational biology. I've been in the software industry since graduating and plan to start a part time Master's degree in Computer Science in the Spring of 2015. I started tutoring in the tutoring center of my college my freshman year at a suggestion from my Integral Calculus teacher. I have worked with various tutoring services since then and before I started with Frog tutoring and have found it to be an incredibly rewarding job. Helping to shape young minds, in my opinion, is one of the most important jobs in the world and I have an incredible respect for anyone who chooses a career in teaching. I'm just happy that I can do my part, as well, working part-time while I pursue my life's ambitions. In my experiences, I have found that a strong knowledge of the subject can bring a student far but that an ability to transfer that knowledge in the one on one interactions that teachers are not able to participate in is also incredibly important. The tutor/student relationship is unique in that specific strengths and weaknesses in a student can easily be identified and then a lesson plan can be specifically catered to that students needs. I feel that the most effective tutoring starts here and finishes when weaknesses in a subject become strengths through hard work and decisive concentration in these areas.Fun Facts: I work for a company that makes catastrophe modeling software for corporations in the insurance industry writing small scale programs and scripts to support the quality assurance team. When I have free time to spend a day about Boston, I try to find a coffee mug to add to my collection and then discuss it with my sister, another mug collector. I'm also an avid puzzler and enjoy crosswords, sudoku, kenken, jigsaw, and logic puzzles. I also enjoy reading mystery, psychology, and police procedural fiction and non-fiction. Although this may give the appearance that I spend most of my time indoors puzzling, reading, and admiring my mug collection, I also exercise regularly, which I consider important for keeping not only my mind and my body healthy.

Frog Tutoring says

In 2009, Roland Omene, a TCU bio-chemistry graduate, founded Frog Tutoring. The company originated in Fort Worth, TX, and is quickly expanding to cities all over the country. Frog Tutoring was founded under the belief that all students deserve tutoring regardless of age. We believe the first step in successful tutoring is finding the “right” tutor. That is why we only hire the top students and graduates from local colleges in the area. Each one of our well-trained tutors specializes in at least one area of expertise and is eager to aid in the academic success of the students they tutor. Frog Tutors are not just intelligent individuals, but role models who inspire their students to achieve success both academically and personally. - See more at: http://frogtutoring.com/about_us#sthash.ov47ISCO.dpuf
