I am a senior social work major at Texas Christian University (TCU). I am a member of the John V. Roach Honors College at TCU, and I have received the Dean's List Award for three of my four semesters here. My overall GPA is a 3.812. After I graduate, I plan on attending Texas Christian University for an additional year to earn my Masters of Social Work in the Advanced Standing program. I ultimately want to be a social worker in Title I schools. As a member of the National Honors Society in high school, I had the opportunity to tutor my fellow classmates in their respective subject areas. I have also tutored some of my fellow college classmates when they have struggled with learning new material or concepts. I am very passionate about education, and I believe Frog Tutoring would give me the opportunity to academically empower students. My tutoring approach is patience because each student learns at his or her own pace. I also provide students with multiple approaches for learning specific subject matter. Instead of providing an opportunity for the student to get frustrated or lose confidence by only teaching him or her one avenue of finding solutions, I enjoy teaching students various methods because every student has a different learning style. I believe the true art to tutoring is getting to know the student and his or her strengths, and then building on those strengths to empower the student and build academic confidence. No student should be expected to learn the same way as everyone else in the classroom. When you limit students to one-way of learning, those with different learning styles can feel inferior or less intelligent.Fun Facts: I am originally from Little Rock, AR. I played soccer for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette my freshman year of college. I had a career-ending injury which encouraged me to transfer to TCU and focus on my academic dream. I still enjoy athletics, but my current focus is on social work practice in low-income school districts.
