TEDxSOAS - Zoe Young - "Giving Voice to the Voiceless"

Youngest of six children, writer Zoe Young grew up surrounded by artists, musicians and authors including William Golding, who originated the name 'Gaia' for the earth as a living system. Entranced by nature since early childhood, Zoe has travelled widely and worked as an academic researcher, educator and journalist on the frontlines of justice, ecology, knowledge and power. Her films give voice to the voiceless, including displaced peoples and women accused of witchcraft. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
