Intersections and independence of energy and environment in ChinaJerry is Professor of Energy, Environmental, and Resource Economics at West Virginia University and Director of the U.S. Advanced Coal Technology Consortium of the U.S.—China Clean Energy Research Center. Jerry was raised on a ranch in Wyoming, studied math- ematics and physics at the University of Wyoming, earned graduate degrees in economics and agricultural economics from the University of California, Davis, and received his Ph.D. from Purdue University. Much of his work during the past 10 years has been on energy developments in China. His current research relates to the man- agement options and economic implications of the environmental consequences of coal utilization, carbon management, and public policies that affect societal decisions.
