NEIL LAMBDr. Neil E. Lamb is the Director of Educational Out- reach for the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology after serving as Director of Education and overseeing genetic educational opportunities with the Schools of Medicine, Nursing and Theology, as well as outreach efforts for K-12 programs and the public at Emory. Neil develops and implements a comprehensive outreach program aimed at educating school-age children, educators and the public. This past year, over 35,000 middle and high school students in Alabama used curriculum and activities developed by Dr. Lamb's team at HudsonAlpha. At the same time, he has created biotechnology student camps, a summer intern program for high school and undergraduate students and a very popular "Biotech101" series for the public. Institute-led professional development workshops and a summer academy for Alabama high school biology teachers help to increase educator knowledge about the rapidly changing field of genetics.About TEDxIn the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
