TEDxConejo - Jamie Smith/Jordan Palmer/Jonathan Yan/Brian Ho - Student Group 2

Jamie Smith is a senior at Thousand Oaks High School and member of her school's Academic Decathlon and Mock Trial teams. She enjoys any opportunity to participate in public speaking events, and will be sharing her thoughts on the influence of technology and social networking on her generation at today's conference. Upon graduation, Jamie plans on majoring in Communication Disorders and one day become a speech therapist. Jordan Palmer is a junior at Agoura High School. He is interested in International Relations and Economics. He has played soccer around the world and wants to be a social entrepreneur. He is going to talk about the empowerment of technology. Jonathan Yan is a junior at Westlake High School and a student entrepreneur who strives to make a positive impact on his community. He is currently on the Board of Directors of TruantToday, a program that attacks truancy to create safer learning environments. His presentation is intended to inspire others to take on similar entrepreneurial endeavors. Brian Ho is a junior at Westlake High School. "In my free time, I enjoy playing tennis, reading books, and exploring the limits of technology. For my TEDx speech, I will be discussing the futures and possibilities created through the actualization of an online metaverse." TEDxCONEJO TEDxConejo, an independently organized TED event, was held in Thousand Oaks, Ca on March 26, 2011. The conference theme was Energy, using that word very broadly to go beyond what powers our homes and transportation but really what fuels life. What energizes business, education, health, and ideas? What energizes you? A broad mix of thinkers and doers characterizes the TEDx experience both on the stage and in the audience. TEDxConejo is open to the general public and produced in association with the Conejo Valley Unified School District. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
