GUITAR TECHNIQUE: Funky Guitar String Popping Andrew for FREE lesson Handouts. This Video: June 15, 2012 | Search Videos by Title/Date.GO TO: Wasson of Creative Guitar Studio answers a viewers question...Q: There is a string pop sound that bass players do, but I'm sure that on different recordings I've heard guitar players do this string pop sound also. For the life of me, I can't do it. I think it sounds really funky and cool so I was wondering if there is a trick to it that makes it happen. Is there something I'm missing? Because I can't create that sound on my guitar.Ashton -- Columbus, OH. USAA: This is a cool technique and, there are a couple of ways to do it. In order to have it come across properly, you'll need to try using both hybrid picking, (lift at the string and snap it by using a free finger while holding the pick). And, also try it by way of using your thumb and index finger to literally grab at the string and snap it back through a method of pulling it away from the guitar and just letting it fly back to produce that pop sound. The string still sounds in the normal way, except approx. a 10th of a second or so, beforehand, it will "snap" against the fretboard and create a very cool and funky percussive effect. In the video I will zoom in on the guitar and run down an overview of how to do this technique as well as show a selection of examples for practice.MY TWITTER FEED: WASSON - Personal Website: postings - w/FREE Guitar Handouts)____________________________________Visit our Creative Guitar Studio Zazzle page: Creative Guitar Studio Products Website: CLOUD: Listen to some of my songs.
