Hi guys:) It's Kata again, and Rada (http://www.youtube.com/98Rada) asked me to make a video on how to use overlays, and this is what i came up with (i hope this is kinda what you meant haha) This is just how I use them personally, you don't have to do as i say or show, but i hope some people were able to learn something new from this maybe:) I uploaded a zip file with the overlays i used in the video (i didn't make them, they belong to their rightful owners): http://www.mediafire.com/?1em15nfnrux6cif A few more - hopefully useful - infos: Compositing modes - you can adjust the strength of the layer by moving the slider on the left side (next to the compositing mode selector) - you can also adjust the opacity of the overlay by left-clicking on the top of the overlay and moving the line that appears Lighten - overlay shows up on the dark parts of the clip Screen - overlay shows up on the whole clip, and makes it brighter Darken - overlay mostly shows up on lighter parts of the clip (mainly whites) - but it makes the layer under the "Darken Layer" all black, when there's no overlay clip on the "Darken Layer" anymore (in this case render out where you use the overlay in "Darken" mode, and import it back, settings it to "Source Alpha" mode How you can make an overlay your own: - use gaussian blur - use the pan/crop + flip it horizontally or vertically - change the color balance, hue, brigtness/contrast - make it go from one color to the other (using keypoint with color balance, or hue) - put any effect on it, that distorts it somehow (radial blur, spherize, swirl...) - make an overlay from any clip you find in the internet (music videos, commercials, movies...anything) by using some effects on it (a lot of gaussian blur!) Hope you guys like it, if something is not clear, just ask!:) Love, Kata http://www.youtube.com/Catushka
