Hi, my name is Josh Kallenberg and I'm here at the Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles, California. I've been flying professionally for about 13 years, and now I have the pleasure of flying this Gulfstream G450 which is a lot of fun and exciting. And today I'm going to talk to you about becoming a pilot. Once 10 miles within the airport, line up with the runway, approximately 3,000 feet from the ground. Make sure your speed is appropriate for the weight of the plane and your landing configuration is ready, meaning the wheels are down and the wing-flaps are down to help slow your speed. Once all of this is set, you are going to use the steering contol to yolk, pitch up or down, and roll left or right. With your feet on the pedals, aim the plane towards the end of the runway. Once you're about 50 feet from the ground, slow the rate of decent by pulling the steering control towards you until the plane slows down. As you get closer to the ground, continue pulling the steering controls towards you until your main back wheels touch the ground. Once they touch down, pull the throttle back so you do not produce any more forward thrust. Now,relieve the pull on the control yolk until the nose and wheels of the plane gently touch down. In this specific plane,we have the ability to reverse thrust, which allows you to deflect the thrust forward and slow down. Now,using your feet to follow straight down the runway, start to press the brakes, or in this plane the top of the rotor pedals. Use both breaks to slow down and keep the plane moving straight down the runway until you stop or are going slow enough to taxi the plane off the runway. That is how to land a plane.
