My daughter will be starting high school next school year and although foreign language is not required to graduate from her school I do know that it is required for college entry. How many years of foreign language is the standard requirement for college entry these days? I know when I was younger most colleges required two years. Thank you.

Foreign language requirements vary wildly from college to college, and many schools have no requirement at all. At schools where requirements do exist, the requirement is generally only for two years. That said, most highly selective schools recommend three or even four years of high school level foreign language work for their applicants. Further, skill in appropriate foreign languages is useful for many college majors and helps open the doors for both study abroad opportunities and a wider range on internships.
