The first and most important reason that I chose to attend Berklee College of Music was the vast diversity of the student population. There are just as many international students in the school than national or local. Especially as a creative person, it is incredibly valuable to be able to experience so many different cultures and types of music while at Berklee. We are able to learn form each other as much as from our classes, with the most common language of all--music. Secondly, I believe that Berklee's faculty is unique and well worth the money. They are mostly, if not all, working professionals in their field and are able to not only teach their students, but provide them with incredible connections in the industry. Each professor or assistant professor treats students like they are equals and respects each one's work and artistic opinion. Lastly, I value the attitude that Berklee has towards the professional music world. During a student's time at the college, there is a very apparent overtone of a push to work hard and do everything yourself. While the school has an amazing support system through the students and faculty, there is also a great degree of healthy competition that makes one take their instrument and chosen field very seriously. Berklee is not a college that "babies" you. It is a laboratory like institution that provides just the right amount of push to inspire its students/artists to get moving the in the real world.
