  1. If you want a small, close knit campus, this is one.
  2. If you want small class sizes, and lots face to face time with teachers, this is it.
  3. Teachers that really care, you can approach them with any sort of question and usually (if it's respectful) they will answer completely honestly.

La Crosse is rated number two in the nation for the comparison of cost and education. It is a reasonable price to pay and a student will learn just as much as if they went to a school that has a tuition of $40,000 per year. We are also ranked one of the safest schools across the United States. People are walking across campus at 1 o' clock in the morning and nobody feels a threat for their life. The University of Wisconsin -- La Crosse is a beautiful and stunning campus, whether it's summer, fall, winter, or spring. It's very eco-friendly and great to/for the environment. But that doesn't isn't the only reason. If you are an Archaeology major, then this is one of the best places to go. La Crosse actually holds one of the best Archaeology educations in the nation. The same goes for Physical Therapy and Therapeutic Recreation. Not to mention, they are some of the most popular majors here on campus. The third reason is the people here. It is such a peaceful community with friendly people from all over the world. Class, money, majors, appearances don't matter to the students here and I think that's great, since I come from extreme poverty and a working class family.

Anonymous, Student, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Class of 2019

The top three reasons someone should attend UW- La Crosse is the beautiful view and landscape, everyone is very open minded and welcoming, and for the outstanding education system.

Anonymous, Student, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Class of 2018

The three reasons someone should attend La Crosse is one professors here really care about student’s learning. After the first week you will not feel intimidated about talking with them. You should attend La Crosse for all the great fitness opportunities offered here. Physical Therapy is a huge program, and with that comes many chances to participate in studies that will benefit your health and the education of students. The third reason someone should attend La Crosse is that campus is relatively small, but has a big town feel. Being able to walk clear cross campus in 10 minutes max when it is 20 below is sure a treat. La Crosse campus is so close to the big town of Onalaska that you can get to for free with your student ID on the public bus system is really convenient for errand running. La Cross is the best of both worlds.

The first reason why someone should attend UW La Crosse is because the staff will work diligently to see the success of their students. Although UW-L is fairly large, the professors express a tremendous interest in their students and are willing to spend extra time with them for the explanation of questions they may have. Each professor clearly states their office hours and contact information for each and every student that needs help. This was very comforting and a big reason why UW-L was the choice college for me; I wanted a university that genuinely cared for the success of their students, and that is what I have received from La Crosse. Second reason is the great programs offered. UW La Crosse has top notch programs for Physical Therapy, Biology, Chemistry, Business professions, Pre-Medical, and so many others that get you more than prepared for the career of your choice. The third reason why someone should attend this campus is its tight nit community. It is hard to find a city that is as committed to the well being of its population than La Crosse. The city provides numerous opportunities for the community to get involved in; they host runs for awareness and funds for cancer, special needs, ALS; they host theatre productions that people heavily attend to view the talent in drama; Oktoberfest celebrations that bring thousands of people all over the state, and so much more. These three reasons should be a deciding factor any prospected student.

The sheer amount of class choices and amazing professors make UW-La Crosse one of the best universities in the state. The second reason someone should attend UW-La Crosse would be the active campus. There is always something to do on campus, whether it's a club, a sport, or a sponsored event, it's almost a guarantee that you can find something you're interested in doing. The final reason to attend this university is the student body and the staff. I have met some of the most inspiring and kind people since starting my journey at UW-La Crosse. Like I mentioned before, everyone on campus is so friendly, I can't see why anyone wouldn't want to be around such lovely people. Also mentioned, the immense amount of clubs and organizations help on campus makes the college so desirable.

  1. It offers a wide variety of classes that are both challenging and interesting which allows you to explore and see what your interests are before deciding on a major.
  2. It is not a very large university which allows for small class size. This allows students to form relationships with their professors and be able to ask them for help/speak with them regularly.
  3. It is a very accepting campus. Everyone will find a place to fit in and people to make them feel welcomed.

  • The university for the 14th year in a row, has been ranked as one of the top universities in the region. The faculty and staff are truly student-orientated. Even if you are in a large lecture, you still feel like you are valued and cared about. Professors are responsive to students who ask for help or assistance. They constantly push you and express that they want you to excel. The staff and professors make you feel important even if you're among 100 other students. They are overall generous and go out of their way to help you succeed. I feel as if every student deserves the classroom atmosphere like the one UWL offers.

  • Students should highly consider UWL for their competitive programs such as Physical Therapy, and Physicians Assistant. Most students in each program have 4-5 job offers before they even graduate, and have a 96% employment rate upon graduation from the program. The entire science department is known for great academics, and research. It is no surprise that the number one major at UWL is biology! The university has high rankings for undergraduate research and I believe anyone who is centered around hands on learning or is a science major should be excited about a school like UWL.

  • Lastly, students should attend if they are looking for a beautiful, sustainable, and active campus. There are numerous activities going on around campus daily, including over 500 clubs students can be involved in. The greenery, gazebos, and flowers on campus add to it's beauty. Right next to campus is the Myrick Park and marsh. The marsh has numerous paved and unpaved trails for people to bike, rollerblade, and run on. If you're someone who likes the outdoors, hiking, kayaking, biking, etc. then the University of La Crosse is the perfect fit.

The location of the university is definitely a top reason to attend the university, because it is right on the river with beautiful trails and bluffs to hike. 3. It is known for it's outstanding academics.

It is hard to beat the surroundings with the bluffs and the river. But if that doesn't do it, the people here are awesome and it is small enough and still affordable for everyone.

Anonymous, Student, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Class of 2017

Three reasons a person would want to attend the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is because of its location, education opportunities, and the professors and/or Learning Center.

The town of La Crosse is in the perfect location with being on the river and next to the bluffs. When attending the university, a student can live in a big town, but also be connected with the outdoors. In La Crosse, they can experience city life when they go shopping and site seeing; but they can also experience the outdoors when hiking the bluffs or walking the river. The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is in the best area to make each individual student feel at home.

Even though the university is known for their education in Therapeutic Recreation and Physical Therapy, but they also have a great education program all around. When graduating with a degree from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, a student should know that they are getting an education from one of the best colleges today. The univeristy creates each major and minor with a set of required classes that will best suit them in their future careers. Upon graduation from the Univeristy of Wisconsin-La Crosse, a student should hold their head high when entering the work force.

The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is not a small, private college; but you still can connect and build relationships with your professors and tutors. Learning may not be everyone's best subject, the educators do everything in their power to make their lesson plans adaptable to benefit every one of their students. Professors try to be available as much as they can be, but that isn't always the case. The Learning Center is available typically when professors are not. The Learning Center enrolls students who have done exceptionally well in certain areas and ones that surpass all of the average requirements needed to tutor their peers. Any educator at the university whether it is a tutor or professor always strives to teach in the most beneficial way to their students.

La Crosse is near the Mississippi River with beautiful sights and has many activities to interest students around the community.

The main reason someone should attend La Crosse is to prepare themselves for med school or other medical fields. The size of each class is fairly small and there are amazing instructors teaching every class. Additionally, the campus is so active and welcoming at all times that you truly feel at home here. My favorite part about attending UWL is being able to walk down the river, climb the bluffs, or hike on the amazing trails.

Anonymous, Student, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Class of 2018

  1. The University of Wisconsin- La Crosse offers a wide range of undergraduate as well as graduate academic programs. Being an undecided student myself, I have first-hand experience in exploring all of the programs offered. It makes for a unique experience being able to look into prospective work fields. I do not feel limited here at UWL and I think that is the number one reason students should attend UWL. There is so much potential for students to succeed here.

  2. UWL is considered a top-rated institution within the University of Wisconsin System. I can confirm this statement because this university offers the full college experience. By the preceding statement I mean, every where you go on campus there are opportunities asking to be taken advantage of. Whether there is a club to be joined, class to be enrolled in, or study abroad opportunity, UWL has it posted around campus, promoting what could be one of the best experiences a student could have. You will not be bored here at UWL, because there is always something going on and it makes you feel like you apart of something great.

  3. Lastly, someone should attend UWL because it is a close-knit campus. Being a smaller campus allows for smaller class sizes and a student to faculty ratio of about 19:1, this allows students to get to know their professors and vice versa. Again, being a part of a smaller campus allows you to live and learn with the surrounding La Crosse community as well. La Crosse has a historic downtown and beautiful environment. La Crosse may be small in area, but the opportunities within can be as large as a life changing event.

Anonymous, Student, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Class of 2018

  1. Its a really good size for a college. You will actually know most of your professors pretty well unlike most large colleges. It is also big enough that there is a good amount of diversity on campus as well.
  2. UW-La Crosse is a very affordable college when compared to other schools in the state such as Marquette University and UW-Madison, however it also has similar academic standards as these schools. In other words you get much more value by paying less for the same education that you would get elsewhere.
  3. The campus is in a great location. At the most, its a 10 minute walk from one side of campus to the other. Also, you're close enough to the downtown that even if you don't have a car, its easy to walk or ride your bike there. Not to mention the bluffs and the wetland preservation right by as well, which is nice when you want to spend some time with nature.
Anonymous, Student, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Class of 2018

  • The atmosphere. It's amazing here. It's a good size, and the professors actually care, and at least the ones I've had have made an effort to learn my name and to get to know me. They're really there to help you. -The La Crosse community. It's a really beautiful campus, and the community is gorgeous as well. Campus is nestled between the bluffs and the Mississippi river. Even when it's snowing, it's still an amazing place to be. -The academics. As I said before, the professors are amazing. The classes are interesting and provide a challenge. It really seems like they're working hard to prepare us for the work force.
Anonymous, Student, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Class of 2018

The University of Wisconsin- La Crosse has great faculty. I have not met a single professor or worker at La Crosse that was not friendly, informative, and helpful. This is a beneficial aspect to feeling comfortable in classes enough to ask questions and get good grades. Secondly, there is always something to keep you occupied. If you do not have plans on a Friday night, UW-La Crosse is sure to have an event happening that will provide a night of fun. Lastly, the landscape and environment is beautiful. Waking up to the beautiful bluffs right outside of your window, and knowing that there is so many ways to be able to stay close to nature while being in college is great. It can be used as a stress reliever, school project, or an adventure for a group of friends.

Anonymous, Student, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Class of 2016

Someone should attend UW-L to be part of a down-to-earth community of learners passionate about their studies. They can enjoy the geography of the land by hiking the bluffs, float on the river, and explore downtown. As a student, you receive one-on-one attention because of smaller class sizes.

Amazing campus: there is a bunch of different buildings on campus but no building is more than a 5 or 10 minute walk from another and that is a huge benefit that I know was one of the main reasons I came here, Great residence halls: each residence hall always has something going on as far as programs go, and a busy downtown life: La Crosse actually has the most bars per capita of any city in the United States, so our downtown is pretty much reflective of young people having a good time walking around from place to place.

The top ten reasons I would recommend the University of Wisconsin La Crosse are the beautiful outdoors, the outstanding professors, and the close knit community. I absolutely love the beauty surrounding La Crosse. In the fall, I enjoy hiking the bluffs with friends and soak up the beauty of the changing leaves. In winter, there are many more activities to explore. I've been ice skating in the community and have engineered a snowman outside of the residence halls. I have yet to experience a professor who is unwilling to help or make adjustments to their teaching styles to improve the education of their students. It makes learning here so much more enjoyable when the students and professors are working as a team! The third top reason someone should choose to attend the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse is the environment! Everyone is so friendly and so involved with the community. There are numerous organizations that serve the community, a few of which I have actually participated in so far. I've enjoyed collecting food for the community food pantry, and collected teddy bears for children with childhood cancer. Overall, there are a million reasons to choose La Crosse; the beauty, professors, and community are just the beginning.

Everyone has heard of University of Madison. The D1 college of Wisconsin and very well known college nationally. But, it's expensive. UW-L though on the other hand comes in second behind Madison at a cheaper price, and its education system is very well constructed. The student tp professor ratio on average is between 25-35 per professor. Lastly, the outdoor community is huge in Lacrosse.

The city of La Crosse, Wisconsin is special in the way that it offers an urbanized feel to its residents while it also beckons for adventurous souls through its beautiful and intriguing geographical features. In any weather conditions, activity engulfs the city and captivates the students at the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse. With the breathtaking bluffs, pristine river, and tranquil marsh just a short walk from campus, the students often take advantage of the city’s landscape to take a break from their studies.

As a college that attracts a large amount of athletes, intramurals are undoubtedly another way that students have fun on campus. With countless sports and several sessions offered throughout the year, students have no trouble finding one or (usually) more intramural sports teams to join. After playing on a volleyball team here, I can say from experience that a little competition and a lot of laughs on the court lead to lasting friendships and memories.

Lastly, when a study break or simply a change of scenery is necessary, students take a walk to La Crosse’s historic downtown, where unlimited opportunities reside. With charming coffee shops, unique privately owned stores, and innumerable eating (and drinking) establishments, and lively festivals like Oktoberfest, the downtown area provides various possibilities for entertainment to college students. 1. Its not high school. It's literally a family. As a freshman myself, I remember being overwhelmed by the emails, sorting, planning, and goodbyes that college came with. I did't dread it, but I also wasn't sure what to expect. And what I got was more satisfying than any well written college welcome sheet. I knew I wanted to be involved, so that what I did. I joined a Service Learning Community and become fast friends with, despite huge, VERY huge, differences, an array of people I could have never imagined meeting before.

2. You learn to take what you want. I always wanted to do yoga, but I never did in high school. Guess what I'm doing at La Crosse? I also wanted reasons to get dressed up and meet intelligent people. I do that here now as well. I wanted a teacher to boost me up, until I wanted nothing more than to get that A they said was unachievable. And I did. If you want something, it will not wait around forever, so go and get it.

3. Its a large school feel on a small campus. I can promise you this, you will always see a new face. But, you will also always see someone who you know. And the funny thing is, everyone says hello. Always. There is none of that awkward look away eye thing people do. People smile here, and are interested in knowing what you are doing in your life and what to know your own experiences. People you meet here, may very well become some of your best friends starting day one (I mean, it happened to me, so..). They are accepting, and kind, and always willing to help, professors and students alike.
