The type of student who should attend Temple University needs to be driven, passionate, and committed. As a student in the social work department, I have been challenged over and over again. If it was not for these three characteristics that I have acquired, I would not be where I am today.

The type of student that should attend Temple University is an open-minded student. By open I mean someone who welcomes diversity, new relationships , a quality education, and the numerous opportunities that the university has to offer. Temple allows us to explore our numerous interests with its abundance of courses which aid us in discovering not only the type of job we would like to have but our careers. The staff is always available to answer our questions and guide us during our college career. Being in the heart of the city of Philadelphia surrounds its students with so much culture. The culture of Philadelphia influences not only the student but the individual. We are able to meet people from all sides of the world with different backgrounds which makes us more open-minded and educated on all things. We are surrounded by many businesses which allow us to get an idea of where we could be one day, work in environments that teach us lessons, try new foods, and shop. The type of student who should attend Temple is one who is in the pursuit of knowledge and culture.

Temple students have the advantage of going to school in Philadelphia, one of the most diverse and fascinating cities in the country. We are home to the Mutter Museum (and the Soap Lady), the Franklin Institute, the Philadelphia Art Museum, the Avenue of the Arts, Boathouse Row, Kelly Drive, Graffiti Pier, McGillin's Olde Ale House, the Wilma Theater, Rittenhouse Square, the Bourse, Jim's, and Lincoln Financial Field. From Philadelphia has come The Roots, Jill Scott, Isaiah Zagar, Meek Mill, Noam Chomsky, Margaret Mead, N. C. Wyeth, and M. Night Shyamalan. Philadelphia is a place of fierce loyalty and beauty. Unlike other northeastern metropolises, such as New York or Washington, Philadelphia feels achingly familiar. As you watch the lights of Center City burn bright in the night sky from the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum, you feel an impossible closeness to the city, despite it's population of millions.

Within Temple itself, students are exposed to a rich source of diversity, knowledge and culture. The student body at Temple is one of the most varied in the nation. We are given access to brilliant professors, inventive courses and groundbreaking research. Temple is a place where, much like Philadelphia, loyalty is fierce. We are proud of Temple and proud of everything Temple do and we are Temple Owls until we die.
