A social student that is not afraid of huge crowds (30,000+ students). A go-getter, to take advantage of the many opportunities here.

Anonymous, Student, University of Connecticut, Class of 2018

Upstanding, hard-working, and generally talented individuals for the most part. It is a big school so if you don't take advantage of that socially you should try applying to a smaller school.

Awkward, usually. If they aren't drunk, they are probably hungover, and hungover people don't like to socialize.

UConn is a big campus school but I believe that you can still find your place to where you fit in. A typical day can be hectic at times but majority of the time it is always moving from class to class and enjoying the free time that I get. So if you are the type of person to like big crowds and a lot of people in school go to UConn, if not don't be shy to try it out because you can still find a niche of friends and have a great time with all the activities that they offer at the school.

A typical UConn student is someone who is willing to work hard in class, but not be afraid to get out of their comfort zone and meet new people. On such a large campus, students see thousands of peers every day, so being willing to meet new people is a necessity. You should be an avid sports fan, since we sell out Gampel Pavillion at every basketball game, and take wins and losses extremely seriously. You must be able to brave temperatures below zero and snow up to your knees, but also be able to run outside and slide down a powdery hill on your dorm mattress. Classes are rigorous, so prospective students must be willing to put lots of effort into studying and group projects, and while navigating the every bustling Homer Babbige Library. And, if not anything else, any student looking to go to UConn should have a large appetite for our seven on campus dining halls and unlimited meals!

When asked to describe a person, one usually begins by describing their physical appearance. For this question, that is impossible. UConn's student body is thriving with diversity; UConn Huskies are like snowflakes, no two are exactly alike. But, of course, there is something that connects all of us; the fact that are we Huskies. A UConn Husky is a person who is open-minded, judgement free, and overall wants to contribute to a positive learning environment while making amazing memories and friendships. The perfect type of person to go to UConn? Absolutely anybody could fit in as a UConn Husky, as long as they had a smile on their face and some pep in their step. We are such a happy student body!

First of all, anyone who thinks about coming up to UConn better be okay with some really cold temperatures. Other than that, plus being pretty smart, anyone can fit in at UConn

I wouldn't say that there is a typical day at UConn just because there is always new, fun things to explore and do on campus such as visit one of our museums, take a walk to and along Horsebarn Hill, spend the afternoon in Storrs center shopping or just hanging with friends around campus. Of course students have classes throughout the day but there are many other activities to participate in once studying and work is over. I also think that any student who is looking to get a lot out of their college and really try to learn who they are would be a good candidate to attend UConn. There are so many different types of people who call UConn their school and thats part of the reason as to why I love the school so much. There isn't "one type" of person who attends UConn; we are a very diverse group of people who all have different interests, values and skills. UConn does a great job of catering to different types of people and makes us feel at home when we are at school for the year.

A typical UConn student is interested in being involved at school, whether that be through clubs, student government, intramural, club, or division I sports, or just getting together with friends and spending time out on our beautiful campus. UConn students are very academically driven--though we know how to enjoy ourselves as well! While there are cliques on campus, it is so big with such a variety of students that anyone can fit in well. The type of person who should attend UConn is someone who is academically and career driven, active and willing to be involved, ready to handle the frigid winters, and who is looking to have an amazing four years.

Anonymous, Student, University of Connecticut, Class of 2016

I do not believe that there is any typical UCONN student. Each student is different at the university. I do not think there is any limitation on who should attend the university. Any person will contribute to the institution with his or her talents and ambitions.
