The typical student at the University of Houston Downtown is more of a "laid back" kind of person. Majority of the students are approachable, and could carry a flowing conversation with one.

The typical University of Houston Downtown student is like me. We come from a middle class family in which our parents work hard to provide as much support to us as possible to accomplish that one goal of graduating. We have full and part time jobs, children, responsibilities ( taking care of our kids, bills, etc) and will do whatever it takes to our families proud of us. The typical University of Houston student is a person that looked for flexibility and low tuition cost, made sure the student teacher ratio (22:1) was acceptable so that they want attend a college and didn't have any type of relationship with the professor.

University of Houston- Downtown does not have a typical student. Houston is one of the most diverse cities in the country and the same can be said for the University of Houston-Downtown. It's a working college offering online degree programs, night and weekend classes, and campuses cross town allowing students to attend in a way that works for them. I have met students from all walks of life, and in all stages of life. It's one thing I love about the University it has introduced me to people I would neer have met otherwise.

I don't think there is a typical student. There are people of all races and creeds there. I am a 42 year old disabled single mother of 3 children. My oldest has graduated High school and my other two are still in school. I would like to believe that anyone could attend this school. I am doing it on a fixed income and must get scholarships in order to help pay for my books and tuition. All one has to do is have determination!!

I normally go to school at night so the only type of people that I come across are working professionals. People that are trying to better themselves so they can move ahead in their professional careers.

I love the UHD campus. The classes are a lot smaller than bigger campus classes. The class room sizes are the same as high school classes so if you would rather have a relationship with your professor and be able to ask questions and get one on one help I highly recommend this campus. It is also very central so it does not take long to get to the campus from many different locations in Houston.

Everyone that attends University of Houston-Downtown are friendly, anyone would be accepted quickly. For me when I attended this school, I didn't expect to make that many friends, but after just a few weeks I felt like this place is another home.

The type of students that attend UHD are people who are looking to further their education without paying a large amount of money. These are mostly people that grew up in Houston. Also, since UHD has such late class hours during the week and Saturday classes, these students are usually already working and pursuing their careers.
