The most popular extracurricular activities would be sports like tennis, baseball, and football. There are a good variety of clubs. I would recommend Student Council, tennis, Girls Learn International, and Spanish Club.

The three most popular clubs at West are Maroon Madnezz, our school's pep club; Harambee, which is a club that advocates for racial harmony; and Renaissance, which rewards students for good character and academic achievements with events throughout the year.

Personally, I would recommend joining Harambee, Renaissance, and the Speech and Acting Team. Harambee gives students the opportunity to use their talent, whether it be dancing, singing, acting, stepping, or just giving support, to help keep racial harmony throughout the school- and it's just a really fun club. It is definitely one of the most proactive clubs at west, with fundraisers and performances at West and in the community.

I would also recommend Renaissance because of the perks. By offering movie day, off-campus lunches, and the annual Renapalooza, which is kind of like a little fair, to students who have good grades and behavior, it motivates kids to achieve that.

Lastly, I will never stop telling people to try out for the Speech and Acting Team. This extracurricular has made my three years in high school an amazing experience, and will no doubt continue to do the same my senior year. While I know it isn't for everyone due to the required public performances, it shapes who you are and helps you develop in every way possible.
