Every school has a variety of clubs and extra curricular activities for students to join. It helps enable an individual to grow and meet new people. The three most popular extracurricular activities at JICHS are National Honors Society, Student Council, and Keep It Kind JI.

National Honors Society is pretty popular due to a lot of people having a good grades. If you meet the requirements for it, you automatically get the paper to apply for it. However, just because you apply doesn't mean you will get in. Once the club receives your application, several teachers look at it and unanimously vote for who gets accepted and who doesn't. Fortunately, a good bit of people get accepted. If not, you can always try again your Junior year. Once you're accepted, you have to uphold those requirements and do service hours as part of being a member.

Student Council is open to anyone who wants to join. You don't have to necessarily be an officer to be on Student Council, you can just be the body and aid in decisions that could better the school and the student body. All you have to do is show up to the meetings and if you want something to change, then voice your opinion and it might just happen. You have to do service hours for this club as well but it helps keep you a well rounded student.

Keep It Kind JI is a cute little club where they focus on spreading kindness. It is open to everyone as well and service hours are not required. They like to put sticky notes in bathrooms or around the hallway with positive notes on it like "you're beautiful" or "you are meant to be in this world". They are completely against bullying and want to make the students feel safe and happy as much as possible. For example, one morning they were giving away free donuts early in the morning in the senior courtyard and wrote happy things in chalk on the sidewalks to make the readers feel special.

All of these are great extra curricular activities to be a part of and they all help keep someone down to earth. However, I would recommend National Honors Society the most if you get the application for it. NHS is well known club and it looks really good for college applications. Not everyone can get into it and it motivates you to get good grades and maintain them. In addition, you help the community a lot in this club because they do a lot of service chapters where everyone in the club goes to the same volunteer activity. In addition, you have to do 9 hours for every quarter-which in turn, makes you a well rounded student.
