Describe the type of student who should attend Thousand Oaks High School. Why?

Anonymous, Student, Thousand Oaks High School, Class of 2016

To attend Thousand Oaks High School, you should be nervous, and uncertain, and weary, because if there's one thing I learned from going to my high school, it's that everyone wants to help you, and everyone wants you to succeed. Is it helpful to be kind, outgoing and resourceful? Yes, of course, but that applies to any school. At Thousand Oaks High School, you can be slow or a genius or worried or stressed out or enthusiastic, and, no matter what, you will always be supported. I cannot think of a single staff member or teacher that I know personally that will not drop everything to listen to you and what you have to say. They care about you, they all do, so to attend Thousand Oaks High School, the type of student you should be is your best self, and let them help with the rest.

Students who attend Thousand Oaks High School should be hard-working and desire to succeed. The community at TO is different than the typical image of a high school, as in most of the AP classes are full and have to reject additional students, and the smartest, most successful students become the most popular ones as well. I personally enjoy this environment, as it values mental capability and successful actions over any abstract, or irrelevant concepts of what a "good person" should be. In addition, I have not witnessed a single fight in four years of attending Thousand Oaks High, and have seen virtually no instances of bullying of any kind, a feat almost unheard of in high school. Therefore students are expected to be both kind and respectful to one another, and also be prepared to challenge themselves and to succeed in a competitive environment.
