UNC is so large it basically consumes most of the town of Chapel Hill. The school is the epitome of a college town and that is what I love about it. Although it is a huge school once you get used to it, most things are not that far away from each other. Downtown Chapel Hill, which is where Franklin Street is located is right on the outskirts of campus. There are shops there and small businesses that are specific to Chapel Hill only. I love that the culture of the school is so close-knit. There are so many things associated with the school, such as basketball, charity organizations, etc. that people can relate to. There are also a great number of alumni who live in or near Chapel Hill that come back to visit and teach. It really is a loving community and the people are extremely nice and helpful. There are a bunch of resources and opportunities that people help you with. Just Tar Heels helping other Tar Heels.

My school is very cool in terms of location. It has a great college town feel. So everybody in the area is a tarheel and the local community--whether they are students or not--are so involved with the university. All of the restaurants and businesses on Franklin Street cater to students and their needs--which is great.
