A student who thinks that people will do their work and only wants to party will not succeed at UWL. A student needs to participate and take their own actions into their own hands

Someone who wants a big city school. La Crosse is a smaller school and while there is a down town area it is in no way a big city school. Someone who wants to be in the city would definitely find La Crosse to be too small.

The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is located in a small city in La Crosse, Wisconsin which may detract students from attending. The Midwest weather consisting of four seasons can lead students from various parts of the United States or world to reconsider going to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

The type of person I would not recommend for University of Wisconsin-La Crosse would be anyone who holds a certain type of bias towards others. We do not want people who define others based on race, sexuality, or any other stereotype. This is a place for everyone to feel comfortable, and anyone who disturbs that peace is not welcome on campus.

At the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, education is everything. The state of Wisconsin is known for binge drinking, but that doesn't mean the university is. If someone is just coming to college to party and breeze through class, La Crosse is not for them.

UW-La Crosse strives to be an institution that supplies a quality education to all students. The university can only do so much, though. Fulfilling and receiving a full, rewarding education is up to the student. If someone comes in with the mindset of just breezing through classes and partying every weekend, then it isn't the university's fault if that person doesn't do well. A student wishing to attend UW-La Crosse shouldn't be fighting for their right to party, but rather fighting for the good grades and their degree.

As the second most challenging institute in Wisconsin to be accepted into, students shouldn't take their acceptance for granted. People don't just apply to La Crosse because it's "easy," they apply because of the education they will receive.

Overall, students looking to just fly through college with below average grades shouldn't even consider UW-La Crosse. There is no point in going to an institution dedicated to bettering education if one doesn't want to work for it. Parties can be fun, but will being the Beer Pong Champion four years running land someone a fulfilling, life-long career?

The type of student that should not attend University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is a student who is not interested in health or wellness, because it is promoted a lot all around campus. Students looking to become a nurse however, should not choose UW-La Crosse because although there are a lot of majors for other health related fields, nursing is not offered. The school is also not very large, but is not as small as private schools either. Students looking for a large school in a city should not come to UW-La Crosse, because it cannot offer the diversity that larger schools have to offer, and also does not offer the very individualistic attention that some students may need. The surrounding area is also beautiful, and it's best if students take advantage of the nature surrounding them to learn more about the environment.

Additionally, Making friends is an important part of college, therefore, students who are not looking to socialize may not have a good time at any college because they may feel homesick. Not to mention the fact that the university tries to promote group work. Students that do not enjoy working in groups will not enjoy most of their classes because there is almost one project per class where students have to work together. In addition to those projects, there are peer evaluations that would impact grades.

The type of student who should not attend the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, is a student who expects all things in life to come easy. The University of La Crosse is an amazing school in which will provide many opportunities for success if the student holds up their end of the bargain. The student who continuously takes the easy route will never find the success they desire. Hard work will pay off to those who take the opportunities given and make the most of their time at the University.

If you are somebody who enjoys being lazy, this campus is not for you. Originally founded as a physical therapy and athletic training school, UWL is one of the most active campuses there is. Every day you'll see thousands of students workout at the REC, throwing the frisbee, hiking the bluffs, or even having an all-campus snowball fight. If you like to sit in your room all day and watch netflix, you will have a much harder time finding a friend group to fit in with.

Someone who would not have the greatest time at LaCrosse is someone who does not mind longer walker to class or to get something to eat as well as someone who is not overall active or willing to go out of ones comfort zone and become active. There are a lot of people who host pick up volleyball, basketball, Frisbee, and football games. Also someone who doesn't like the cold should consider somewhere with either tunnels or warmer weather. It gets freezing here. In the negatives freezing. And they do not cancel class for it being so cold either. We have only had two snow days in the last 30 years so get ready to bundle up and deal with it.

One area that the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse lacks is diversity. As much as they try to increase numbers of minority students, are very large majority of students here are of white, middle-class, Midwestern families. Students looking for insight and stories from a wide variety of "minority" communities will not find a lot at UW-L.

The type of student who should not attend UWL is a student who is looking for an easy pass through college and one that does not want to engage in extra curricular activities or the surrounding community. The education at UWL is second to none when it comes to Wisconsin, the professors are highly accredited, the facilities are very nice, and the resources to succeed are given to the student. The professors at UWL know the capability of the students they have in their classes and they want to challenge the students as much as possible to be able to reach their full potential. When you attend UWL you are not just another number, you actually matter to the professors whether you are attending lectures, understanding concepts, or participating in class discussions. Being the type of person to sit and observe from the back watching the clock is not who should be attending UWL . The competition level for the programs there are unmatched, the students who you will competing against have very good grades as well as other experience that makes them standout. There will be no easy way to coast through the selected program while at UWL. There are so many extra curricular activities that make UWL a place for more than just a good education. UWL provides everything needed to make the most out of college and if the student does not want to engage then they should not attend. There are many ways to get involved but just hiding in the shadows will not benefit you or the university. The university is placed in a small community that takes pride in the great university that operates there. To make La Crosse a better place the community and the students must work together to find solutions that will benefit both parties, if the student is not willing to engage in the community then it is not a place to attend. The residents of La Crosse give a lot to help out the university so to be respectful of the community you live in is a very large part of life at UWL.

If you are not a fan of the cold and harsh winters La Crosse may not be for you. From November until mid March you will find it stays pretty cold here in La Crosse. With winters that often see negative temperatures several times through out the winter it does not always make for the most enjoyable walk to class. Being located next to the river you will find that it is windy a lot at La Crosse and between the cold temperatures and the snow wind is just another force to recon with as you make you way through campus. However the winters do bring us fun activities such as snow sculpting contests, ice skatting, sledding/tubing, skiing, and massive snowball fights! If you are willing to bundle up and get out there winters here will not seem quite so bad.

Students that are not hard working and dedicated should not attend the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. This University is one of the best in the state and students who do not have a passion for learning and are not dedicated should not attend.

A student who does not like to make friends, join the community, or experience new and exciting things, is someone who should not attend UW-La Crosse. With all the activities that my school has to offer it would be hard to say no to these kinds of opportunities. At the end of your education, a graduate from UW-La Crosse is a well rounded individual.

A lazy student should not attend this university. A hardworking student can succeed in La Crosse regardless of their intelligence level. A lazy person won't be able to live up the the rigorous standard at the university. The procrastination habits, and the lack of drive will cause them to fall behind and not succeed in the university. They also would not fit in with the majority of the student population. La Crosse is an active campus with numerous outdoor activities that the majority of the student population partakes in. A lazy student wouldn't feel like they belong in the institution because it wouldn't be a good fit.

Students who don't care about school, or who don't like new social experiences should not go to UW-La Crosse because the university is a place that is fueled by hardworking students. People who don't try will definitely stick out here because it is such a high-achieving place. On top of that, it, (for the better) pushes you to meet new people and try new things. If that is not your cup of tea, you may feel miserable while others are having great fun.

If you are not looking to achieve a degree or further your education not only this university, but many others aren't the right place for you.

Anonymous, Student, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Class of 2019

If you only want to enjoy the "college experience" by going to parties and skipping class, La Crosse is not the right fit for you. This university really lets the student grow as an independent adult who makes his/her own choices.

You should not attend La Crosse if you are looking for a big city. La Crosse is a smaller university and won't offer the perks of going to school in the city.

A student who does not care to take responsibility for their academics or future career and goals should not attend the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

If you are the type of student who likes to be indoors if the weather is bad, or below 70 degrees (of for that matter, 30 degrees), you might want to reconsider applying to UW-La Crosse. Although there are things to do rain or shine, freezing or sweltering hot, the weather can get pretty brutal. If you lack the drive to explore the beautiful settings around you, and rather linger indoors, UW-La Crosse should not be on your radar. UW-La Crosse had impressive academics, which can be grueling at times, therefore someone not up for a challenge might have a difficult time as a student.

A student who is not willing to try new things and meet new people should not attend the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse. You will not enjoy UW-L if you are too afraid to put yourself out there.

Anonymous, Student, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Class of 2019

The type of student who should not attend University of Wisconsin- La Crosse is one who is looking for a small school. UWL is not huge but it is still fairly large in the city of La Crosse. But, although the school is larger, the class teacher to student ratios are generally small and manageable so they may still do well here.

Anonymous, Student, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Class of 2017

Students who are interested in majors like engineering there are more specialized colleges out there. Also students who are uncomfortable with international students may want to look else where.

A prospective student should not attend University of Wisconsin-La Crosse if they do not have the ambition to do well in school. The professors at the University want each student to do well and will take the time to help. If a prospective student does not have the mindset to do well in school or if they do not care they should not attend University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

You should not attend UW-La Crosse if you prefer a small or large campus setting. I would also recommend you not attend this university if you are a student that prefers to do school work alone. I make this recommendations for a few reasons, La Crosse has a beautiful campus however it is a medium sized campus and while this size might be the perfect fit for me it is not for everyone. Before picking a campus I recommend you take the time to figure out what size (big, medium, or small) works best for you and would give you the best chance to flourish as a student. All of the courses I have taken at La Crosse have all had at least one assignment that deals with working with other students enrolled in that class. Although it is not the primary focus it is a part of each course and is something the student should be prepared for.

Those students who feel that they can simply back their way through college would not find their time at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse to be easy. While the campus is extremely welcoming and supportive, those individuals who feel that they can slack off and ignore their responsibilities often find themselves at odds with the rest of the University demographic. If a student does not have a desire to learn, a curiousity for the unknown, and a passion for excellence, then there is a good chance that the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse is not the right campus for them.

Students who do not like winter should not go to La Crosse. It does get fairly cold in the winter but classes are not far at all. If you don't like a small campus where you see people you know, I would suggest not going here. People are very friendly and I'm always seeing somebody I know. If you plan on bringing a car to college, La Crosse doesn't have streets in the middle of campus so you would still have to do some walking. If you absolutely need to drive around, La Crosse wouldn't be the best.

If you are a city lover, La Crosse probably isn't the college for you. It's not a huge school, but it's not a small school either. There is tons to do outside, but not so much inside. If you want clubs and busy streets, La Crosse is not for you.

Anonymous, Student, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Class of 2019

I would say if you enjoy more sitting around, not very active things. Also if you are looking for a large school. If you are also a city person, or someone who loves big cities La Crosse is not for you, the city is a decent size but it is not a big at all.

The type of students who should not attend the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse would be the individuals who thinks that things may come easy without trying and are those individual who doesn't take school seriously. These people shouldn't attend this university because they are not going to benefit those who actually wants to learn in their surroundings but just simply take away from them. Perfect example for this would be in group works which occurs a lot at the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse. If an individual in a group doesn't do his or her part, they are just bringing down their team and so that takes away from the learning process. Also, along with the group work, there's peer evaluations, so if one isn't going to take responsibility and do what they're suppose to, their team mates will mention it in the peer evaluations. Therefore one would just be hurting themselves then for not trying to work things through. That being said, if one doesn't take school seriously or are procrastinators, attending this university would not be beneficially to their success in college.

You shouldn't attend UW-L if you don't enjoy feeling like a part of a community. If you like to stay locked up in your room all day and watch Netflix, I wouldn't recommend spending your well earned money to come here. UW-L has way too much to do. You really can't go anywhere without finding something fun to do. I don't know of many people who enjoy just sitting in their rooms and doing nothing. It will be very hard to make friends that way and to experience the life of a typical UW-L student. UW-L is located in such a beautiful area, there is just too much to miss out on if you don't take the time to enjoy it. Besides, Netflix can wait, you have a whole college career to be a part of, so you might as well take part now instead of regretting it in the future. Those very few people who I know of who didn't leave their rooms, have transferred out of the university because they didn't take the time to be a part of the campus and decided it wasn't for them.

Anonymous, Student, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Class of 2015

The type of student who should not attend UWL is the student who wants a large school in a city. A student should want a school that is separate from the rest of the city and want the smaller class sizes.

Anonymous, Student, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Class of 2017

Someone who is looking for either a very small school or a very large school should probably not put La Crosse as high on their priority list. Additionally, those wishing to become a nurse should look at other schools because La Crosse currently does not have a nursing program.

Anonymous, Student, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Class of 2019

Students who expect to do nothing and receive good grades should not attend UW La Crosse because you have to work for your grades there.
