Irish poet William Butler Yeats once said, "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." Since I was a young girl, I haven taken classes at Monterey Peninsula College, feeding my own fire. At my college, I have met brilliant educators and people who have become my heroes. I have craved their lessons and insight, and long after their curriculum has ended I have thirsted for further knowledge. Besides earning a superb education, attending Monterey Peninsula College has opened doors to endless possibilities for students like myself. The counselors have always helped guide me towards my own career objectives, laying out palpable steps that I can conceptualize and digest. Following a great staff is an equally inspiring student body. I feel extremely blessed to have the opportunity to attend school with young people who because of their hard work and consistency are headed for greatness. Some of my best friends have also been my best tutors. The people I am surrounded by on campus drive me to keep moving forward, which is the real battle from time to time.

  1. Great teachers for most classes, not like most community colleges
  2. Counselors are very helpful, really want students to succeed at their chosen paths
  3. Beautiful campus and city nearby, on a hill and sometimes can see the ocean from campus

  1. Affordability--The cost of the RN program is extremely reasonable
  2. Small class sizes--Even lecture halls are only a couple hundred people (at the beginning of the semester, but quickly dwindles to about 150-ish by semester-end)
  3. Location--It's located in one of the most beautiful cities in the US, and the location of the school is only a couple of blocks from downtown, Trader Joe's, the beach, the wharf, and it's right off the main highway in town

Because the school is great for if a student is still trying to figure out what major to choose and if they are undecided. The professors are helpful for the most part and have great communication with the students and last the class sizes are not big at all so as a student you can get the one on one with your professors and it wouldn't be such a hassle.

  1. Every single professor is amazing. If I find myself missing office hours of my professor, I can easily slip into another professor's office and ask them for help. They're there to help us succeed, even if we're not in their class.
  2. You'll never have to worry about feeling alone. All the students are very friendly and always willing to take someone in, just stay true to yourself and you'll have no problem finding that group of friends you'll never forget.
  3. It's in a great location. If you have time in-between classes and you want to go grab lunch, Downtown Monterey is just a five minute walk away. If you want to take a peaceful walk around a lake, its a two minute walk, if you're a skater there is a huge skatepark right next to the lake. The beach is also a five minute walk away and it has the ward, a beach volleyball court, and a path that will take you just about anywhere in the Monterey area.
