What's it like to be a writer at Penn? Are there programs that support this interest?

Lindsey Palmer, I was a Penn English major. My 1st novel, Pretty in Ink, will debut April 2014.

Penn is a great place for budding writers! Check out the web site for the Kelly Writers House (http://www.writing.upenn.edu/wh/). Not only does the Writers House host a wide range of classes--my favorites are the creative writing workshops taught by Max Apple--but it also houses a rich reading series and a real community of students interested in the written word. Attending classes and events at and bonding with professors and fellow students at the Writers House were by far my favorite parts of attending Penn.

The Critical Writing Program (http://writing.upenn.edu/critical/) is also quite vibrant at Penn. Students can take courses and get free tutoring--and also become writing tutors as an on-campus job.
