Do you love working with young children? Are you fascinated by how the mind learns during early childhood? Are you a kind, passionate and caring person? An EE major may be exactly what you’re looking for.
EE majors study early childhood development. They seek to understand how children develop, grow and learn. They are experts in both physical and mental development. They study classroom management, proper assessment, educational theory, and a wide array of educational subjects such as reading, writing, phonics, math, science and social studies.
EE majors need to be comfortable with young children, and they are taught to identify signs of abnormal development.
Useful courses in high school include advanced English, history, mathematics, communications, and art courses. Also helpful will be mentorships involving young children and any extra-curricular activities in which students can interact with elementary age kids, such as youth coaching or camp counseling.
Famous figures with EE majors include Sheryl Crow, Laura Bush and Leonard Nimoy.
