First, UPenn is full of opportunities. Interested in medicine? There's research positions at the hospital. Thinking about pursing law school? Penn law students are ready to mentor you. Looking to work in government? Apply to Penn-in-Washington. Almost anything you can think of academic or not, Penn has the resources to help you achieve your dreams. Second, there's much activism here at Penn. As the leaders of tomorrow, we tackling social issues and brainstorming possible solutions. Everything from racial discrimination to national debt to women's rights, we're creating dialogues to discuss these topics. Third, your peers will push you to be the best version of yourself. You're surrounded by intelligent, ambitious individuals and that drives you to work harder and challenge yourself.

As an educational consultant I would have to agree with all of the answers provided. Here are my additional two cents: unlike it's Ivy peers, UPenn is known as the social Ivy. To some that means it's a party school. It is very much a party hard-work hard school, and again I see this as being unique to Penn. But it is also an incredibly social school. Students who come here engage each other, and live active, vibrant student lives. It's not a place where students lock themselves away in their rooms to study all the time. If they do, they come out hard on Thursdays and the weekend to socialize, go downtown, or partake in Greek like.

What also distinguishes Penn is Wharton. Penn is remarkable for it's undergraduate, pre-professional vibe. Wharton and the other Penn colleges (including engineering) attract students who are highly ambitious, progressive and already eager to leave their mark on the world. It is a very career oriented place. According to Business Insider, Penn leads the world and even surpasses the venerable Harvard for boasting the most billionairre alumni. Indeed, the school is known for it's many prominent and successful graduates. One that everyone seems to be familiar with is Billionaire Tesla CEO Elon Musk who graduated from Penn in 1995. And then there is Elizabeth Banks and her Wharton undergrad husband now riding on the wings of their highly successful Pitch Perfect movies. While not every Penn grad will go on to such fame and success, the seeds may begin there, and that sense of great possibility, and opportunity is palpable.

  1. The sense of community among students and faculty. 2. The campus is an island of its own in the middle of Philadelphia - so you can explore the city if you want to, but also stay on campus if you need to focus on your classes. 3. The amazing resources like Ryan Veterinary Hospital, right on campus.

If someone wants to attend UPenn, they should be doing it because they want to, not that they are being forced, or they will truly detest their time here. If you want amazing professors at the top of their fields who will also take the time to form meaningful relationships, life in the center of the East Coast that is full of opportunity, and the chance to work extremely hard for something that you care about, then maybe UPenn is the place for you.

The biggest reason is the amount of opportunity that's available there, whether that be the chance to learn from world-renowned professors or the chance to conduct research from your first year of college.

Another reason would be the students around you. There are so many smart and driven people at Penn, and it's great to surround yourself with people like that who will ultimately push you to do your best and become a better person.

The location of the campus is another reason to attend Penn. Though Penn is located in West Philly, it is super easy to go into Center City and listen to a concert, eat at Chinatown, or visit a museum! The nice thing about Penn is although it's located in the city, there is still a "college campus" feel. And if you ever want something new, you can easily go into the city with all the public transportation available.
