The SAT Reasoning Test is a standardized examination intended to assess a student's high school achievement and readiness for college and to help determine college admissions. Students typically take the SAT for the first time in the spring of their junior year and, if necessary, again in the fall of senior year.

With admission to college becoming more competitive (or, at least, there exists the perception that it is becoming more competitive), more parents are enrolling their children into SAT preparation courses. While the merits of getting SAT tutoring vary depending on the student’s abilities and motivations, experts agree that tutoring is most beneficial for students who 1) care about their scores, but may lack the self-discipline to study on their own, 2) are nervous about taking tests, 3) have trouble focusing or finishing tests during the time constraints, and 4) are trying to hit a high benchmark score (such as trying to surpass the 2100 threshold that many top colleges require).

Choosing the right SAT tutor or course can be challenging. There are several factors to consider: the amount of help the student needs, your budget, the student’s learning style, preference for in-person or online learning, preference for one-on-one, small group, or large class learning, and the flexibility of the student’s schedule.
