In 2008, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board ranked UTPB #1 among Texas public universities for students finding jobs or going on to graduate or professional school.
Engineering Students WorkingOur business school is ranked in the top third of U.S. business schools, and earned accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) - International. Our social work program is nationally accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Our art program and School of Education are also nationally recognized. And, we offer degrees in some of the fastest growing career fields such as education, criminal justice, computer science, petroleum technology and information systems. Starting Fall 2009, the BS in Mechanical Engineering, with a concentration in nuclear engineering, is available to UTPB students.
UT Permian Basin is a dynamic, growing campus. The atmosphere on campus is a great mix of academics and fun. With 3,600 students and sunny skies for most of the year, UTPB is the perfect place to study on the courtyard lawn or take in a Falcon soccer match.
Students in Visual Arts StudioThe campus includes a model Visual Arts Studio and the two-story Library/Lecture Center. Under construction are a world class performing arts center, a science complex with state-of-the-art computer and science labs, and a student recreation center and food court. Completion is expected as early as Fall 2010 for all but the performing arts center. The arts center grand opening will be early in 2012.
The university stages several theatrical productions, musical performances and student art shows every year. UTPB has an active Student Life program and intramural sports like Ultimate Frisbee are a big part of campus life at UT Permian Basin.
We are members of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division-II. Sports include men's and women's soccer, cross country, swimming and basketball, as well as men's baseball, women's softball and volleyball. The athletic program also supports cheerleading and a dance team. In 2008-09, volleyball won the Heartland Conference championship, as did baseball. Go Falcons!
