Mary Help of Christians Academy is a Catholic School in the Salesian Tradition for young women grades 6 to 12, located in North Haledon, NJ. Mary Help of Christians Academy has been serving the Northern New Jersey area, providing a sanctuary for young women to learn, grow and succeed in a safe, nurturing environment since 1921. Our mission is to provide student-centered learning within a family atmosphere that embodies the Salesian philosophy of reason, religion, and loving kindness as taught by St. John Bosco and St. Mary Mazzarello. Nestled on a picturesque sixteen acre campus, we challenge our students to develop their potential and to dedicate themselves to academic excellence, faith, leadership and service as they take their place in our rapidly changing and pluralistic society. The educational program aims to give the Academy graduate both personal confidence and a competitive edge as she enters college and shapes her future. Special programs open to upperclassmen include:Health Care Connections (couresework and internships geared towards the health care professions)Business Community Connections (coursework and internships preparing students for careers in finance and business)Creative Arts (studio art courses and -- for those interested -- focused courses bridging the arts with the world of fashion design).
Private schools, including parochial and boarding, are funded through tuition and fees. The cost varies from school to school, but most families pay tuition to attend them. Many private schools offer financial aid or discounts, so it's worthwhile to ask about these options.
