St. Joseph School was established in 1896 to serve the Catholic students of St. Joseph Church Parish. It has been a landmark of the Ponchatoula area for generations. The school is operated by the church parish which for years has been served by the Dominican fathers. For many years the Notre Dame Sisters served as administrators and staffed the school. Presently the school is staffed by twenty-one professionals with four classroom aides. The school serves just over 300 students and their families. St. Joseph Catholic School has been providing a quality Catholic education for students in the Ponchatoula area since 1896. The mission of St. Joseph School is to instill in our students Catholic principles while developing academic excellence in an environment of mutual respect. St. Joseph School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin.
