Located in Orange County, California, The Whitworth School is a non-profit school licensed by Applied Scholastics International serving students from Junior-Kindergarten through 8th Grade. Our philosophy. Students need to master educational basics in order to succeed at higher levels. This is achieved through gaining an understanding of the various terms and practical applications of each subject. To this end, each student is empowered with effective study skills. Projects and activities are always geared toward the ability to use the knowledge gained in school outside of class, in the real world. Only in this way is learning relevant.Individualized programs. Every student receives an academic assessment to determine strengths and identify any weak areas that need to be addressed to achieve mastery. Our standards department works closely with the teacher, student and parent to ensure the student makes it at each level.Early reading. Children as young as three years old want to know how to read. With our program, they begin reading the first day of school. By the time a child graduates from our school he or she will have read over 1,000 books including historical fiction, biographies, poems, classics.Beyond academics. Our curriculum includes instruction in drama, music, fine arts, Spanish, physical education, study skills, values and human rights. Our plays are extremely popular with parents and the community.Field trips. Monthly field trips provide a rich array of experiences which are enjoyed by all grade levels. They include age-appropriate activities such as visiting a working farm or nature center, museums, community performances, overnight camping, touring Washington D.C., etc.Summer school.
